Strain description

The ACE2 Tg #17 mice are transgenic mice carrying CAG-promoter-driven human angiotensin I converting enzyme 2 (hACE2), a receptor for SARS Coronavirus (SARS-CoV). The mice express hACE2 in the whole body and are highly susceptible to SARS-CoV. The strain is useful as a mouse model for SARS-CoV infection. Three lines are available (#5, #16, #17). In Japan, users of this strain need permission for recombinant DNA experiments from the Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology.
