Strain description

AMPK-CA/F mice are transgenic mice specifically overexpressing rat constitutive active AMPK α1 subunit in skeletal muscle. This strain expresses transgene introduced T172D mutation into cDNA encoding amino acids 1-312 of rat AMPK α1 subunit under the control of human α actin promoter on -2,000 bp. However, these mice didn't observe to increase AMPK activity in skeletal muscle. AMPK is an enzyme phosphorylating protein in the presence of AMP, and it's hetero trimer constructed with three subunit, α, β and γ. This strain is availabale for research about obesity and diabetes because AMPK regulates enzyme activity related to carbohydrate or lipid metabolism. This strain has 4 lines.
