Strain description Comparison of coat colors

A mouse strain in which Ap3b1, one of the genes responsible for Hermansky-Pudlak syndrome (HPS), is knocked out by genome editing (CRISPR/Cas9). Guide RNAs were set at Exon 1 in the Ap3b1 gene, and 190-bp deletion by genome editing disrupted the starting position of the coding sequence. Homozygous KO mice have a paler coat color than C57BL/6N wild-type mice (B6 mice, see photos). The strain is expected to be used as an HPS model.
