Strain description |
FAT-UCP2/X mice are transgenic mice overexpressing specifically human UCP2 in fat tissue. This strain is expected to suppress lipid accumulation and it's available for research about therapy and prevention of human obesity or diabetes. X line used 5.4 kb aP2 promoter and enhancer expresses approximately 15 times human UCP2 compared with normal mice. Furthermore, UCP2 is one of the uncoupling protein related to energy consumption/thermogenesis to uncouple oxidative phosphorylation in the mitochondrial inner membrane, and it expresses extensively in organs. |
