Strain description | GLUT4-MEF2/D mice express transgene included exon and intron of mouse GLUT4 inserted CAT tag in the 3′-untranslated region and 3,000 bp of 5′-upstream region introduced point mutation in the MEF2 site. This strain has two lines, B or D. GLUT4, one of the glucose transporter which is rate-limiting step of importing sugars in muscle or fat tissue, plays an important role of blood sugar homeostasis. This strain is available for diabetes-related research because increasing/decreasing GLUT4 expression level is related to mechanism of onset or preventation of diabetes. |
