Strain description

Nephronophthisis (NPH) is a disease in which cyst formation is observed in the renal medulla, and the responsible genes for NPHP1 to NPHP16 have been identified. Among them, NPHP2, the gene responsible for infantile nephropathy (NPH2), contains Invs, which is involved in left-right axis determination and cyst formation. This strain lacks exon 5 of the Invs gene by genome editing and is useful for studying left-right axis formation and morphogenesis of organs such as liver and kidney (e.g., cystic kidney).
