| Strain description |
MacATF3 Tg #25 mice specifically overexpress human ATF3 (activating transcription factor-3) which is a basic-leucine zipper transcription factor to belong to ATF/CREB family under the control of human scavenger receptor A (SR-A) promoter in macrophages. These mice decrease inflammatory cytokine production level of macrophages in obese adipose tissues and suppress the macrophage activation compared with control wildtype mice. This strain is available for pathophysiological elucidation of inflammatory change in adipose tissues of obesity or metabolic syndrome. This strain has two lines, #25 or#35, and the former is three times ATF3 protein level in macrophages compared with wildtype whereas the latter is twice it. |
