Strain description |
MUSCLE-UCP3 mice are transgenic mice specifically overexpressing human UCP3 in skeletal muscle. This strain expects to be suppressed fat accumulation, therefore it's available for the research of prevention and therapy for human obesity and diabetes. Mouse myosin light chain promoter is used for transgene expression. These mice overexpress 1.5 times human UCP3 compared with normal mice. Futhermore, UCP3 is one of the uncoupling protein related to energy consumption/thermogenesis to uncouple oxidative phosphorylation in the mitochondrial inner membrane, and it expresses mainly in skeletal muscle. |
