Strain description

Knockout mice of surfactant associated protein D (SFTPD), one of the pulmonary surfactant proteins. They were created by introducing a deletion of 11 bp into Exon 2 of the Sftpd gene by genome editing. SFTPD functions as a surfactant that relieves surface tension in the alveoli and is responsible for innate immunity in the alveoli. It is expected to be used as a model for pulmonary fibrosis.
