Syrian hamsers (aka Golden hamsters) are small rodents used widely in laboratories and also popular as pet animals. A relatively short pregnancy period (~15 days) and high reproductive performance make the animal useful for research use.
In our laboratory, we are maintaining HAW strain with white coat color (see photos).
