Strain description

AMPK-DN/E#1 mice are transgenic mice specifically overexpressing rat dominant negative AMPK α1 subunit in skeletal muscle. This strain expresses transgene introduced D157A mutation into cDNA encoding full length amino acid sequence of rat AMPK α1 subunit under the control of human α actin promoter on -2,000 bp. These mice decreased AMPK α1 subunit activity to 50% in skeletal muscle and almost lost α2 subunit activity completely. AMPK is an enzyme phosphorylating protein in the presence of AMP, and it's hetero trimer constructed with three subunit, α, β and γ. This strain is availabale for research about obesity and diabetes because AMPK regulates enzyme activity related to carbohydrate or lipid metabolism. This strain has 6 lines.
