Strain description

The B10A.Bcgr mice are congenic mice carrying resistant type (Bcgr) of Nramp1 (Slc11a1) gene with C57BL/10.A genetic background. The product of the Nramp1 gene, a membrane protein of macrophages, determines a sensitivity to Mycobacterium bovis (Bacille de Calmette et Guérin, BCG), Salmonella typhimurium, and Leishmania donovani. The B10A.Bcgr mice are resistant to pathogens shown above.
