Strain description

The PS-KO(B6) mice are Pros1-deficient C57BL/6 mice. The Pros1 gene encodes a blood coagulation control factor, protein S. Homozygous (total) deficiency in protein S is embryonic lethal, whereas mice with heterozygous deficiency reproduce normally. The strain is useful as a mouse model for protein S deficiency, one of the primary causes for congenital embolism.
