Strain description

The PS-K196E knockin (B6) mice are knock-in mice carrying c.586A>G (p.K196E) mutation introduced in Pros1 locus of C57BL/6 mice by knock-in technology. Pros1 gene encodes a blood coagulation control factor, protein S. The c.586A>G (p. K196E) mutation, found in approximately 2% of the Japanese population, is a hereditary risk for venous thromboembolism. A study using this strain (Ref. 1) indicated that this mutation can be an exacerbation factor for venous thromboembolisms, such as pulmonary embolism. The strain is useful as a mouse model for research on Japanese-type embolism.
