Strain description

Herp KO(B6N) mice are knockout mice for the Herpud1 gene. These mice are born normally according to Mendelian inheritance. In organs, such as the liver, the expression levels of ER-associated degradation (ERAD) related proteins were affected under both normal and ER stress conditions. These mice also show decreased ERAD substrate degradation in the liver, the disorder of glucose tolerance, and the reduced resistance to cerebral ischemia. This strain is expected as a useful model to elucidate the relationship between ERAD and stress or pathologic conditions. Herpud1 is an endoplasmic reticulum membrane protein induced by ER stress. This strain has C57BL/6NCrSlc background. We also supply Herp KO(B6J)mice (nbio236), which have C57BL/6JJcl(Nnt+/+) background.
