Strain description

Transient receptor potential cation channel (TRP), subfamily V, member 2 (TRPV2) is a Ca2+-permeable TRP channel. Its pathophysiological roles are still unknown. The C57BL/6J(MHC-MCM-V2K) strain is a hybrid of B6.FVB(129)-A1cfTg(Myh6-cre/Esr1*)1Jmk/J (a.k.a., αMHC-MerCreMer) and V2K mice. The myosin heavy chain promoter drives heart-specific expression of tamoxifen-dependent Cre recombinases in the C57BL/6J(MHC-MCM-V2K) mice. Tamoxifen treatment to this strain activates these heart-specific Cre recombinases, which silence TRPV2 expression in cardiac muscles by removing floxed alleles (exons from 3 to 5) of the Trpv2 gene. The strain is useful for pathophysiological analyses of TRPV2 in cardiac muscles.
