Pex11is aPexgene factor required for peroxisome biogenesis.Pex11αexpresses most prominently in the liver.Pex11α(−/−) mice are likely to become obese with fatty liver, i.e., body weights and hepatic triglyceride concentrations inPex11α(−/−) mice are significantly higher than those in wild-type (WT) mice fed a normal or a high-fat diet.
