Strain description |
Our laboratory has used knockout (KO) mice (BKO) of the Glb1 gene as a mouse model for GM1 gangliosidosis. The intron of the Glb1 gene contains the Tmppe gene; however, little is known about the properties of Tmppe. Therefore, Tmppe KO mice were generated by removing the entire coding sequence of the Tmppe gene by gene editing using the CRISPR/Cas9 system. The KO mice lost their TMPPE protein expression (see Western blot figure) without any apparent abnormality. This strain is useful for the study of TMPPE protein function. |
