Strain description

The mTSN Tg#2 mice are transgenic mice expressing CAG-promoter-driven mouse translin (TSN) in the whole body. The translin gene encodes a protein which specifically binds to consensus sequences at breakpoint junctions of chromosomal translocations in many cases of lymphoid malignancies. In the native form, translin polypeptides form a multimeric structure (octamer) which is responsible for its DMA binding activity. A study using TSN deficient mice indicated that the TSN is involved in the blood formation in the bone marrow by regulating differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSC). The strain is useful for research in MSC and hematopoietic stem cell (HSC). Two lines (Tg#2, and Tg#8) are available.
